Witch Watch

During a recent experiment with "past life regression," I found myself in a lovely park... with a tiny little girl who would just melt your heart.
I was old and grey.. she was all of five or six.. and a bit put off at the sight of a wrinkly old man.. but, I had this wonderful watch.. and, she was fascinated with it.
It was a wonderful glimpse of the past. As we talked, she found that "old and
wrinkly" was nothing to fear. Her fascination with the old watch
gave us both some common ground.. and as the "memory" played out, a very
elderly man, and a delightfully shy young girl became very good friends!
... a most pleasant visit to times gone by.
Since that evening, I have found a wonderful hobby in these timepieces from the past. ...that is almost exactly how they strike me... a bit of the past, come to life in the present day.
I week or so ago, I managed to find a watch very similar to the one I had that sunny afternoon so long ago. A very large old "key wind" watch. .. very handsome...and, as you will soon see, very magickal!
Compared to my magickal four-color pen, it is really quite easy to find magick in these marvelous tiny mechanisms! :) A mere glance.. the heavy silver case... thick beveled crystal..
Taking the key in hand, and giving a few quick turns..... it instantly springs to life!
Let's look a little closer, shall we?? With just a tiny bit of imagination..and see what we can see... The face presents a wonderful image of the Triple Goddess . The second hand, racing along.. the Maiden, of course! So full of life!! The minute hand, a little more ornate.. The Mother. The hour hand, moving along so gracefully that one really has to pay close attention to see any movement at all.. The Crone.
Turning to the back of the watch, we flip open the case.... and, ohhh! Most magickal indeed!!! All those tiny little gears.. the balance wheel springing back and forth... the tiny "tick..tick..tick.." as the little mechanism whirls along... Indeed, there is *much * more here than meets the eye! Tiny
gears of gold.. the "train gears".. four in all... perhaps the four elements?? Earth, Air, Fire and Water.. all within the confines of this tiny silver case?? or... the four compass points!
I happen to love conjuring a Circle of Winds... a favorite, when I have time to enjoy visiting those silly gulls.. Watching those four tiny gears, I can almost feel the breeze on my cheek! .... quite magickal indeed!
The gears are mounted on jewels of ruby stone.. Set in the sparkling golden settings, they remind me of the treasures of life.. happy times.. good friends... Easy to forget sometimes, when the "day to day" begins to take its toll!
The balance wheel is probably the most interesting section of the inside of our watch...coupled with the regulator, it is the heart and brain of the watch movement.. spinning back and forth on its tiny staff, it is this mechanism that keeps the gears running "in time".. the steady "tick..tick..tick..,"
thousands of times a day, keeping everything in order.. everything on track.. everything as it should be.. Again my mind turns to the Goddess.. smiling down from above.. always there.. always with the power to keep things in perspective.. if only we take the time to remember!
I saved the mainspring for last... for good reason, I think.. The mainspring is what makes it all work..a few turns of the tiny key.. a few moments to take the time to recall all of the magick contained in this tiny mechanism... Perhaps the one great lesson of the watch..... until you take the time to turn the key... nothing happens.
All that delightful magick just lies there.. in silent slumber.. 'till we take the time to do our part.
As with me and my watches, we all have the power to find magick in our lives where we may least expect it! Each of us has a "key".. something that empowers us to rise above the "day to day".. something that puts us in tune with the Powers that Be, and the world of nature we have all come to love.
Whether it be a beautiful wand of wood.. a "magickal four color pen".. or even something as simple as a pebble in your pocket.. Whatever it may be, cherish it!! .. and may it always be a personal symbol of love and trust.
Blessed Be!
