Feathers in the Wind

Have you ever...

Have you ever watched the work of a spider,
  till her "random" weave made perfect sense?
Or looked into the eyes of a friend, with a reassuring
  smile, as they drew their last breath?
Or walked in the rain.. without hurry.. enjoying the
  sensation.. and listening to the sounds?
Ahhh.... "listen to the sounds"...
  a new-born babe..
  the subtle background of the forest..
  the sea... whether calm, or pounding with rage..
  the sound of the morning birds.. or the crystal silence of
    their absence in the midst of winter's chill..
Have you ever walked with a friend, never passing a single word,
  and felt completely fulfilled?
Or felt completely alone in a crowd.. wondering how such a thing
  can be so?
Have you ever put all the money on the table.. played the game as
  hard as you could.. only to learn in the long run, sometimes
  there is more to be won from losing?
Have you ever seen a man's soul in a mere glance. brought laughter
  to where there were only tears.. then found yourself crying.. later..
  when there was no one to see?
Have you ever known great love.. and lost it, without becoming bitter
  for having allowed yourself to be so vulnerable?
Or having been put in a position of power, have you made sure to take
  the time to realize that "power" is really nothing more than creating
  a situation where everyone feels part of the whole?
Have you ever screamed at the gods in anger.. and moments later,
  been humbled by something as simple as a flower, greeting the
  morning sun?

I've done all these things, and so much more.. and still, I wonder..
Have I ever really lived?  Have I ever really given 110%.. gone beyond
the limits we all seem to set for ourselves..  have I even begun to
reach my potential?  .. or have I merely convinced myself that it's as
good as it gets? ... knowing full well that I've hedged my bets here...
and compromised, there.

I s'pose there really are no answers..  in the end, it all comes down
to muddling along as best we can. :)  ....  but every now and again,
always good to take the time to question that tiny voice within..
put 'em on the spot.. and let 'em sweat just a bit. :)

Have you ever just taken the time to wonder.......
